Outdoor Education

Selected students have a weekly session with Safe and Sound to develop their personal skills through adventurous activities. In these photos students are taking part in Bushcraft, Kayaking on Lake Vyrnwy, Mountain Biking and Map Reading in Church Stretton.

Christmas Tree Festival at St Chad's Church

The Henslow School joined the Festival of Trees in St Chad's Church, Shrewsbury. Students sponsored a tree and spent time decorating it, in order to showcase the rich variety of lessons that take place in school. The Evolution School pupils visited the site and enjoyed searching for the Henslow Tree amongst the galleries and aisles. It is an uplifting way to celebrate the end of term and start of the Christmas festivities.

Careers Day

All students participated in a Careers Focus day in November. Older students spent the morning considering their options on leaving school, learning that they must then do one of the following until turning 18: stay in full-time education , for example at a college. Start an apprenticeship or traineeship . Spend 20 hours or more a week working or volunteering, while in part-time education or training.

Anti-Bullying Week 23

To raise awareness of the message for the week, students and staff wore odd socks, passed on kind words to each other and designed posters. Shopping vouchers were handed out for Random Acts of Kindness. In Personal Skills students were asked to consider what 'kindness' meant to them and asked how could they do nice things without expecting anything in return.

White Water Rafting

The last day of term dawned bright and sunny, perfect weather for bobbing down the river into Llangollen. With amazing teamwork and camaraderie everyone boarded their raft and much fun was had splashing, swimming and playing games as we made our way down the beautiful river to whizz down town-falls. Once back on dry land, students were presented with their achievement and effort certificates before being wished well for their summer holidays.

Sports Day

All of the Henslow Students had a fabulous morning of competitive athletics and a fun afternoon of team rounders for their annual sports day. Energy levels were topped up at lunch time with a BBQ prepared by Chef’s Penrose and Howells. Of particular note was the sportsmanship displayed by students, who encouraged all to participate and try their best.

Henslow's Got Talent

As part of her Arts Award, Alicia organised an evening show to entertain staff and students. The judges panel and audience saw a variety of acts and skills including a magician, radio controlled car, singers and the school band who were on fine form.
